Entries are now being accepted online for the 2007 Irish American Arts Awards.

January 30, 2007

The 2007 Irish American Arts Awards were launched with a reception at the Samsung Experience in New York City, with cognac cocktails courtesy of Hennessy.

Present were Irish film actor Milo O’Shea, authors Frank McCourt and Malachy McCourt, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and Sir Hugh Orde, Chief Constable of Northern Ireland. Also present were Ambassador Tim O’Connor, Consul General for the Republic of Ireland, Ambassador John Olsen, Consul General for Australia and Maeve Walls, Deputy Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau based in Washington, DC. Cultural representatives from Canada and Monaco also attended.

The world of art was well represented, including the gallerist Emily Jane Kirwan and the artist Cheryl Donegan, members of the 2006 panel of judges and the gallerist Ronald Sosinski and William Zimmer, long time leading art critic of the New York Times, both members of the 2007 panel of judges.

The Irish American Arts Awards was launched on January 19th 2006 in the presence of Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith at a reception held at the Irish Consulate General in New York co-hosted by Consul General Tim O'Connor and the Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau, Tim Losty.
